Busy as a Bee!

Wow, we really had a busy weekend this last one. Friday night was kids hockey at the Kearsney Hockey Academy, and our kids absolutely loved every minute of it. Parents mingle close to the open fires (sherry and boerie rolls on tap) or bring a picnic basket with your own goodies. But I found it so amazing so see children of different ages, ranging from 4 - 19 on the same astroturf together, enjoying themselves and in some cases the older ones assisting the younger ones, when coaches were away. So true what they say...keep kids in sport and out of mischief!...

Saturday morning was the Shongweni farmers market, and for those who haven't been there in a while I must warn, has simply EXPLODED with people, and yet in my opinion, it still has a wonderful country feel, where you can chill under the marquee, stroll the stalls for fresh produce and let your kids pat the dogs! It felt like time stood still for that period that we just sat idly chatting to friends and sipping divine cappuccinos. By Saturday afternoon it was 34 degrees here! ....it was HOT!...but the boks however were NOT! Trace spent half the game clicking away with her zoom lens....zoomed in on the "players butt's" I think she said?....what she also said is that it was for And's and Linnie?? ...who just can't resist a good pair of legs and a firm butt!...LOL!...so whilst I sat and watched the game, I heard clapping....and CLICKING!...and a fair amount of booing too!

Sunday was spent with our friends Andrew and Tracy in the midlands, and it was just the most glorious day. The sun was out, the sky was blue, and where flowers didn't grow of their own accord, pansies and little violets have been planted with rows and rows of lavender...sigh. We saw the most amazing thing whilst travelling towards one of our stops. A cow standing right up against the fence was calving??...(not sure of the terminology). We pulled our cars over and (in true Kruger Park Style) watched in awe, and silence, me having run across the road and plant myself on the verge with my camera, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. Her calf was presenting head and feet at the same time, which meant she needed assistance, so unfortunately we couldn't stay and watch the calf being born to the end, but nevertheless, what an experience it was - the children were mesmerized!!! So all in all a very country weekend friends...just like we like them!
