about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

An A-HA moment!

I don't know if I'm the only person that spends as much time being introspective and reflecting on the deeper meaning of life as I do. Maybe it's just where I'M at in my life. I've had this discussion with a few people, about how I've been on this journey of sorts over the past year, but I am always at a loss to define it in words, or a term, or explain why or what the purpose is, to them, as well as to myself. All the while knowing that I'm searching, discovering, unfolding, unwrapping, learning and most importantly having these A-HA moments, along the way, going towards ...well...something, I hope!

I know we all have these moments, and I'm sure some more than others. My friend Linnie, when asked where she'd been all morning, would sometimes say that she'd taken herself out for coffee. I always have such a giggle when she says it, not only because I think it's such a CHARMED thing to do, but also because it really resonates with me because I feel she's conscious of it and present with herself. We all have at some stage, gone out for coffee with ourselves, but with Lin, she makes it sound like an occassion! Or the real mccoy coffee date that you'd have with a friend! You know the kind...where you catch up, gossip, laugh share, except this time, you're being with you, and enjoying it!

So last night, I had SUCH an A-HA moment! I love them!!...in a world where at times so much can seem a mystery or unresolved, I'm all for a bit of the A-HA now and again to balance things out!! Whilst watching O interview Jamie Lee Curtis, JL says "It's all about finding the AUTHENTIC you", and I could literally hear that little 100W lightbulb go - PING! That's it! Straight away I knew that's exactly what I've spent the last few months doing.....trying to narrow things down to what is authentically me! Whether it's a signature perfume, your style, a value, a characteristic, ...it's what I like to call your personal truth. For me, knowing your personal truth, and living it, is what makes makes you authentically you - warts and all gf's...warts and all! A moment with my boy can make all the difference......

CHARMED LIFE principle 6 - PRACTICE THE VACATION PRINCIPLE: When you're a tourist, the place you are is the most important place there is. Wake up! You ARE on vacation. You won't be here forever. When you comprehend that, you'll categorize infinitely more of life's offerings as "not to be missed".
