about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

A charmed Christmas…

I’m embarrassed at how long it’s been since I last posted my entries from Victoria Moran’s book, “Creating a Charmed Life”…. . But truth be told, my gosh this has been a busy last few weeks.

So as this will more than likely be one of my last few entries before Christmas, I thought I pick up where I left off, and on opening the book I was just amazed at how appropriate the two entries I am wanting to post are, for this time of year….! I think the 2 points below are things you can easily be mindful of at this festive time of year, where we surely will be eating and drinking (good food I hope!) and will also be encouraged by the razzle dazzle the merriment and bling of Christmas brings to our usually hectic and busy lives!!

DRINK GOOD COFFEE, EAT GOOD FOOD…
Make it a point to eat a minimum of one meal a day sitting at a table and using utensils. Flowers, candles, cloth napkins, and dishes that would break if you dropped them are extra credit.
People who live well drink good coffee – or tea or juice or water or wine. They eat good food: delicious, healthy, and nicely presented. They wear good clothes – not necessarily expensive but comfortable, becoming, and well maintained. They treat themselves to uplifting films and plays and performances. Living well could stand to be more widely practiced. For example, everybody eats, but few people dine. This is such a loss. And because we’re in the final sputters of decades of dieting obsession, we have the opportunity to fabricate a new, liberating definition of good food. Good food is real – that is, it grew, or it’s primary ingredients grew.

RAZZLE DAZZLE on OCCASION
You are already in possession of the seven components of substantive razzle dazzle. Use them properly and you will radiate star quality. There is work to be done. There are commitments to keep. Just maintaining a body, soul, house, family and whatever else you’ve got going takes energy and focus. To live a charmed life however, it is appropriate sometimes – necessary in fact – to go for some razzle dazzle. Razzle dazzle is a vaudevillian term originally applied to the bells, whistle and special affects that would elicit from an audience ooh’s, aah’s and repeat ticket sales. When you pull out all the stops and go for a bit of razzle dazzle in your life, you’re using a similar tactic. (Unfortunately I can’t elaborate on all the points Victoria mentions, but here a few)…1. Razzle dazzle with talent 2. Razzle dazzle with readiness 3. Razzle dazzle with quality 4. razzle dazzle with yes! 5. Razzle dazzle with freedom 6. Razzle dazzle by bouncing back 7. Razzle dazzle with follow through…..

  2. how stunning - thanks for that - you know me - i set the table as if guests were coming every night - we have candles and fancy glasses with serviettes and everything - after all - we are the most important people and deserve treating and the girls must never ever see us only splashing out and putting in effort for visitors - hell no - they are worth my effort - so i always present dinner and set the table and make it special - they LOVE it and always comment -even if it is just lasagne and salad or sausages mash and peas and gravy - the placemats are out the serviettes are pretty and the candles lit - they drink water at the table in wine glasses and we have whatever we fancy - it makes meal time that extra special.....but then again i am no ordinary mother!!!
