about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

What I know for sure this year up to 10th January...

- I have goals, a vision board and hope...(that's a START)

- Forget air travel and the light bulb, the DISHWASHER has got to be the best invention yet, EVER, always....(and I have no doubt it was a woman's idea - and no, I have not "GOOGLED IT" because they'll probably give all the credit to a man, but WE all know, it SO must have been a woman's idea!!!!)

- along with Rita and Rose, Lizzie also aint coming back to work for a loooooong time.

- once you've used a top loader washing machine, there's IS no going back!!

- in Africa, you can SMELL the rain coming..

- me growing a vegetable...IT CAN BE DONE!!!...no I didn't say EDIBLE..that still remains to be seen, but I'll keep you posted!...LOL!

- NOW 50 CD will always remind me of December 2008 - we so killed it.

- both the price of petrol and interest rates have gone down...whew...good news.

- the mist in Hillcrest will always be one of my favourite things

- my son is one of the funniest people i know

- scrapping something and then having to part with it, truly is a labour of love

- summer is here....doing a jig

- night before last i slept with my favourite string of pearls on...(the long strand kind like carrie did from Sex and the City )...and now I know you can be glamourous all the time, even to bed! (the indentations it leaves on the body can be a bugger though, and I recommend a shorter strand to avoid STRANGULATION!)

- I do wonder how my Gran raised 10 children without a dishwasher and help (oh and no top loader either - eish - they just don't make women like they used to!)

- labelling 300 items of stationary for back to school can give you SUCH a crick in the neck!! (this screams business opportunity someone!?)

- Lime and soda is my favourite drink at the moment

- Helen Suzman passed away on the 1st January - the end of an era...

- loving my Trollbeads ....
http://www.trollbeadbracelets.com/ ..check it out!...it's the new version of the charm bracelet, but better!...still catching on here in SA though, so can only be bought from Jewellery Stores - Trace and I have started our bracelets and get this ABBA fans...there's even an ABBA bead!!!! ...you can add bead by bead as you wish, to make up your own combination, OR buy beads according to bracelet combinations - some of the bracelet's you can make up are called "A day at the lake", "Berries and Cream", "Coney Island", "Mom", "deep blue sea"..the list is endless!

  4. Gorgeous bracelets ... had a look at the beads - of course, I WOULD want the Dolce and Gabbana and Donna Karan et al for a mere $2025.. - ouch!!! But there are some stunning beads that aren't too badly priced ... sigh ... a new year, another addiction ... maybe I should control my other addictions first ... tee hee ...

    I still resist the lure of a dishwasher - convince me it's a must-have item ....

FYI, my fave new drink is lime and lemonade (close enough to soda) - we were separated ... come on - I don't believe in coincidence ....

    Chat soon!!!

    Love, Tracy
