about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

still in October...

It has been oh so long since I last posted.......

I almost cannot comprehend that we are already hurtling towards the middle of November, when I am barely done reminiscing about how good October was to us.  She brought the much needed rain, that brought relief to so many thirsty areas, and revived our gardens, back to the green lawns and bursts of colour that are always so inviting at this time of year, that draw me into my garden, to walk, and smell and savour......oh how i have missed the flowers!!

October was also an extra special month thanks to the much anticipated arrival of two very special friends....my precious gf's, sisters.....Andrea and Linda.  There were times when I had to blink, to pinch myself, to comprehend that having them in my personal space was for real!  Having them here to sip tea from antique rose tea cups, to laugh and to share and reminisce, was food for the soul and a gift in itself.......

We have also been totally focused and lovestruck by our two darling little girl pups, who despite some sleepless nights, have already grown so quickly, and have brought a new energy to our home and our life.....

And then DIY, lots of DIY....so so so much DIY, as I've tackled some small reno projects and the more serious DIY mini redo and maintenance of our garden cottage....

I have had these prints for about 12 years now, and finally shabbied some R20 frames to do them justice......
A few months ago I discovered the joy of having a staple gun...love love love...I bought the fabric on the left for about R40 about 10 years ago, and am half way through recovering the 4 cottage dining chairs
Twiggy vinyl wall art is one of my new favourite things!!!  Finally we've found just the thing for above our bed......
Just had to thank my two gf's, Trac who very kindly sponsored ECO friendly paper to HPS to enhance our ECO SCHOOLS 2010 submission, and Vee, who as always worked her MAGIC and helped us put together such a YU-MMY licious front cover - sadly this photo depicting it half completed, doesn't nearly do it justice...a wooden album cover with my all time favourite...TREE!!
And last but not least, so enjoyed making this little tweety bird which went onto a gift bag..made with love
Now November is here, and with it, is the promise of Christmas....my absolute favourite time of the year.  A time of celebration, thanks, love, joy, giving, caring and sharing.......
