about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

Things I know for sure this week, ending 26 October

- I always have and always will love ABBA!
- The Sharks are the winners of the CURRIE CUP!
- October has flown by...
- Christmas is officially upon us!!
- In Africa, you can have friends that run through a roadblock on the N3 in their underpants, with pink "glow in the dark" devils horn's on their heads.....and still not be locked up! (SHEW!)
- Thanks to my husband's obsession with CNN, our children are the only children of their age, that I know, who know the names of the 2 American presidential candidates, and what parties they come from!!!..eish...
-Thankfully, they also know who JZ is!....(and even they know that you can't cure AIDS by taking a shower!!!)
- Spring is proving to be colder than winter was!
- Irrespective of what country you live in, and how content and happy you are living there, there are always days that can leave you feeling desperate, ....
- This week, 2 little girls from our area, age 3 and 6, sat at their mothers side, while she lay dying from a fatal gunshot wound. I am struggling to come to terms with how to PROCESS and get perspective on this!!!!!! And I still maintain, at my own peril, that if more women ruled, surely the world would be a better place??? Justice would be served against men who rape and kill innocent women and children! There would be more compassion, less WARS - I know there would!

  3. I am in total agreement with you ... the world perhaps need some more women in leadership positions. Just imagine what a softer touch could do to the world. Its amazing how murders don't even reach the news in SA, except if you are perhaps a well known person.
