about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

Making the world a better place/green challenge..

Making the world a better place challenge.

My feedback for the challenge this week is not worth reporting back on in too much detail, due to my mind being distracted whilst focusing elsewhere , but as my heart and soul are in this, report back I must, even if just to give a brief overview of where I am at….

For months, if not a year or so, I have vowed to get into the habit of using less plastic, especially when going shopping, and I’ve NEVER succeeded until now, and for me this is a HUGE achievement. I feel like this principle is finally instilled in me. My friend Ronda, spoilt me to a real GIRLFRIEND shopping basket (even though she’s in the recycling plastic business – now that’s the sign of a true friend!! Lol!!), which I just HAVE TO post of photo of when next I remember, as I highly recommend buying one, if green is your THANG!

I have always switched off lights and appliances, but now even more so…so needless to say, plugged in cellphone chargers with no cellphone at the end of them are now arch enemy no 1. and the bane of my life at the moment!!!

Letters to my family were all done, and I am praising everyone BIG TIME at the moment, and to their credit, praise is definitely due!

Road rage has improved DRAMATICALLY, …hmmm..except maybe for the taxi driver yesterday, who’s taxi I hit as hard as I could with my handbag (I’m sure I saw a dent afterwards …eek! )after he drove negligently towards my child!!! Dom asked “Mom, would he have gone to jail if he had knocked me over”, to which I replied “No Dom, he would have gone STRAIGHT TO HELL, after I had wrung his neck with my bare hands, if he had so much as touched a hair on your head!!”….eish…why do I succumb to these wicked thoughts in moments of weakness….but what the hell…it felt SO good at the time! (note to self – 4 x ‘Hail Mary’s’ AT LEAST!!!!)

I have really made the effort to make myself more available to my children in the afternoons, and boy has the Universe worked with me on this one, throwing every kind of technological/electrical glitch my way, thus rendering me unable to do much….other than rub 2 x sticks together like they did in the good old days!!!

I still have not grown so much as a SAUSAGE with a child, but I did BAKE CUPCAKES with my son today – HALLELUYAH!!!!!!....it’s been OOOOhhh so long…too long, since I experienced my delicious vanilla cupcake mixture, melting in my mouth….my boy aand I both licked our spoons together and went “hmmmm…!” in unison!

  1. Hmm I am quite impressed as you achieved quite a bit considering you felt you hadn't done much.

Please send me your cupcake recipe - I haven't found a good one and would love to make some - scrappywalker@gmail.com
