about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

MIA....

I WISH ..........i could say I've been bonding with yummy Miss Pink (above), but no.....more like the very dull, standard GREY cousin to her - maybe her and I will meet someday...soon!

I've soooo been MIA lately.....

It's hard being part of a generation of women who can pretty much have it all. I'll never forget Oprah saying on a show she did ages ago, dedicated to the topic of the modern woman, that yes, we can have it all, but maybe just not, "all at the same time"...I LOVED THOSE WORDS and have never forgotten them.....

The last few weeks of me being buried behind my desk, have felt like months actually, because it's so hard to have your heart focused firmly on your family, and your head, closing deals and beating to the very fast paced drum of life in the competitive world of business...but I laugh as I sit here typing this, and realise just how lucky i am to have the rewards that come from these two diverse worlds I live in; .....I've decided I'm soooo a "double agent".....sitting here at my desk, surrounded by everything that's representative of "a day at the office"....when all of a sudden, out of my big glass windows, I can see one of my girls (read chickens) chasing the other, who has her mouth FULL of the spoils of an obviously successful scratch in a patch somewhere closeby.....probably the roses...the poor roses....LOL!!

I love both worlds for different reasons, and they really do bring so many blessings to my world, but hands down, I choose the time spent with the family, and can just appreciate how my business is able to contribute to that, without taking too much away.

That said, there have been moments in the last few weeks, where too much of wearing this.....
has meant just not enough time of this.............

....my me time..... the things that remind me to smell the roses......:-)...especially when they're from my DH:-)

And then my famous old trick....to always "NEVER wear a watch", and that purple nail polish under the corporate attire, can be just the reminder you need, not to take life and the world too seriously....a good way of keeping one foot in one world and the other in another.....if you know what I mean....:-)
And last but not least...having temperatures of 31 degrees in WINTER, means you get to do this!!!!.....just because you can , and honestly, never underestimate the power of tucking into an ice cream...it really can MELT the stress AWAY....
We're off to JHB tomorrow morning early, to support our boys at soccer city....it's not often that our entire family get's to fly together - going to love that!!
