about me

My photo
Married to Nick for 13 years, with 2 children; Sabrina - 12 and Dominic - 11. I am a girlfriend through and through in that I love girly things and anything that celebrates the essence of being a woman. I love vintage, shabby chic, the country and try my best to do my bit for the environment. SO yes...we have 3 bins in our house and try our best to recycle! I believe that with everything in life, the closer we stick to nature, the better off we'll be. I would love to have a balance in life, but have learnt that balance is not always possible, so strive for significance instead, in the hopes that that will be just as meaningful, and the rest will hopefully follow.

Restoration..to soul, home and hamster

Room with a view
It's Monday morning...(think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts).....We have just arrived back home from a looovely beach weekend away with friends....just what the soul needed to be restored....but yes..on that note...it's fast turned into a DIY Monday I tell you....
I love the way GIRLS always cling to each other for support
It's amazing how quickly the chaos returns .....30 seconds into arriving home we are frantically trying to rescue Sabrina's hamster, who had ONCE AGAIN wrapped her leg (i have no idea??) through the bars of the cage, and had resorted to trying to gnaw her leg off to get free.....last time she did this, her leg and thigh was UNRECOGNIZEABLE (breathe into a paper bag...heave), but fortunately she was too weak at the time to put up much of a fight as we tried frantically to work out what was what from the mangled mess??!?!....this time, she had so much fight in her, it took 3 of us to free her.....(sweating).....wheoh where are the jaws of life when you need them???...I am now CONVINCED that there's DEFINITELY something in a name...I keep asking Sabrina why oh why she bloody called her STORM in the first place??? ....because now, there is NOTHING calm about her..., and as things stand, it appears there never will be!

The pool people are here to do a complete overhaul/restoration on our pool...FUN....so that's another distraction and my to do list is growing by the minute....

But driving on the way home this morning reflecting on what a lovely weekend we all had, my DH and I observed that, life will always be a series of "Monday morning's".  Let's face it, life is filled with risk, beauty, chaos, serenity, and good and bad surprises ALLATTHESAMETIME eh?....to survive it all, you really just have to accept that that's the way it is, swim with the current, put your happy face on, and feel it right down to your toes....no really - you gotta just put that fear, and all the other stuff we love to cling to, in it's place.

The sea was BEAUTIFUL

Too too too much CUTENESS...sigh....

I am so enjoying capturing this boy lately.....he's warming to the camera - finally!!

Ken....such a precious soul...
 Happy Monday:-)

  2. Glad you had a fun weekend....all that sea, sun and sand, my kinda holiday.....

Can so relate to the hamster story, my Smorg caught his foot up in his wheel one night and it took Si and my mom and hour to rescue him while I wimpered in the corner (pathetic I know) after which he had his foot amputated by the vet and forever after when he ran around the wooden floors in our house in Grahamstown it was patter, patter, patter, thud lol
